UGC NET 2019 Eligibility Criteria :


Candidates who are willing to apply for UGC NET in June 2020 must meet certain criteria of eligibility set by NTA. UGC NET Eligibility is based on the following academic qualification and age limit:


UGC NET Educational Qualification


  • Applicants must have scored at least 55% (50% for reserved categories) in their postgraduate degree or equivalent from any accredited university.

  • Students of the final year are also qualified to attend the test. However after passing their qualifying test with minimum marks, they will be eligible for awarding JRF or professorship.

  • Ph.D. students whose postgraduate examination was conducted before September 19, 1991 (regardless of the date of the declaration of the result) shall be granted an additional 5 percent relaxation in the minimum mark criterion.

    • UGC NET Age Limit


  • Assistant Professorship: UGC NET Assistant Professorship does not have an age limit.

  • Junior Research Fellowship: as of 1 December 2019, the upper age limit is 30 years.

  • For reserved class candidates, however, age relaxation is given in compliance with Indian government requirements.
